HONG KONG The work of American Artist and Filmmaker Julian SCHNABEL is on its first exhibition in Hong Kong and in the region. SCHNABEL's prominence in the art world begun in the 1980s when brought back painting to a daring scale, using non-traditional canvases to create vivid and striking drawings and paintings.

He was the youngest artist to have a retrospective at the Tate Gallery. His works have been collected by museums all over the world and this year, he is inaugurating exhibitions from Rome, Italy, Spain, Germany and soon in Shanghai. In 2007 he demonstrated his versatility when he won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival for his work on "The Diving Bell" and "The Butterfly. Other directorial credits include the "Basquiat" and "Before Night Falls."

The Julian SCHNABEL Exhibition will run at the 10 Chancery Lane Gallery from 6-24 November 2007. Katie de Tilly, owner and founder of the 10 Chancery Lane has teamed up with entrepreneur David Tang and Fortune Cookie Projects for this show. 10 Chancery Lane was opened in May 2001 and has since brought fresh air into the Hong Kong art scene by "showing works that can expand horizons and open minds and to remind us that art is not just decoration for our walls but a connection with our deep inner selves and the world around us."
