SINGAPORE Set up by the National Heritage Board in 1993, the Asian Civilisations Museum is one of the four National Museums in Singapore. It presents the cultures and civilisations of Asia while tracing the diverse cultural roots of the modern-day, multi-cultural Singaporean.

It features collections from Southeast Asia, South Asia, China, and the Islamic world of West Asia. The Empress Place Building which serves as its home, is historic in itself, having been built in 1860's and used for over a century to house colonial and government offices. In addition, the Singapore River Gallery nearby shows the moving sotry of immigrants who lived and worked in the Singapore River.

With interactive hosts and multimedia displays, plus a programme of special exhibitions throughout the year, the Asian Civilisations Museum has been ranked among the world's best.
