Leave your habitual ideas of cinema at the door and transport yourself to the wonderful advent of cinema. Enter the imaginarium of Georges Méliès.

Méliès is a magician whose fateful encounter with the cinematograph in 1895 resulted in an expansion of the creative possibilities of the new technological medium.

As a pioneer of cinema, Méliès drew inspiration from his interests and practice in magical theatre, breathed life into the cinematograph, and fashioned the first ever cinematic magical narratives – a treasure trove of films soaked with wit, imagination and a charismatic sense of wonder.

In this exclusive travelling cine-concert of Georges Méliès films that commemorates his 150th birthday, a definitive selection of  Méliès’ films will be accompanied by Lawrence Lehérissey and Marie-Hélène Lehérissey, Méliès’ descendents, who will be performing live piano improvisations and narration, a practice that stays true to the way these films were presented in the 1900s.
