The Durian could be the most divisive fruit in the world, with strong opinions from those who love or hate the King of Fruits. Yet under the artistic eye of Afton Chen, Head Designer of Reckless Ericka, the thorny fruit is transformed into 3 print designs that will delight anyone from both camps of the Durian divide.
These original designs, with the fruit, flowers and leaves sketched by Afton, come in an explosion of colours and strong graphical elements. The vibrant reds, bright blues, neon pinks and yellows converge and pay homage to the vibrancy and designs found on façades of shophouses, where many durian stalls in Singapore are found.
“What fruit could be more iconic than the durian in Singapore? It is a fruit that is almost impossible to describe in terms of taste and smell, but after that first bite, the sensorial experience will be etched in your memory forever. Love or hate it, I hope my interpretation of the ‘King of Fruits’ will be enjoyed by all.” adds Afton Chen.
These quirky prints are found on signature Reckless Ericka silhouettes such as full circle skirts, midi dresses and crop tops. Printed on lightweight Tencel blend fabric, these garments are effortless & easy-to-care for, which makes it perfect for travel.
Prices range from SGD $109 - $139 for crop tops & blouses and SGD $239 - $299 for dresses.
The Durian Collection is the 2nd edition of Reckless Ericka’s Singapore Food Series, with more than 30 looks, including limited edition head scarves and a kid’s wear capsule collection.
