With the Reine de Naples 8999, Breguet interpreted with romance and whimsy the concept of a Tourbillon that rotates the balance wheel, its spiral, and escapement over the course of a 24-hour day, but uses that rotation not only to improve time keeping precision, but to present enchanting depictions of both day and night.
The dial of the watch is split into two unique zones, the lower half displays the time in a traditional way with Roman numerals and blue open-tipped hands.
The upper half visually tracks the day and night with a lapis lazuli sky, mother-of-pearl clouds, gold stars and titanium moon. The sun doubles up at the balance wheel, moving across the dial over the course of 24 hours.
The two halves come together on the wrist in perfect harmony, set in 18k gold against geometric guilloche motifs, encrusted with 143 diamonds and beaming with a briolette crown at 4 o'clock
