L'Oréal Luxe which owns YSL Beauty, the cosmetic brand that bears the name of the separate fashion label, Saint Laurent, has announced plans to expand into China, to meet the demands of beauty and skin care in the country. Come May, YSL Beauty to open it's first retail counter in Isetan's Shanghai branch, located on on Nanjing Road.
"We want to keep innovating and surprising the Chinese consumer. Yves Saint Laurent is a beautiful brand that belongs to French haute couture. Chinese consumers, they want the best," said Nicolas Hieronimus, president of L'Oréal Luxe.
"In this country, the sky has no limit because the Chinese have such an appetite for luxury that we can only be excited for the future," Hieronimus added, "This is just the beginning."
In future, expect to see special editions of YSL fragrance, makeup, and skin-care lines targeted for the Chinese consumer, which the company expects to be its largest market by 2015.
