Italian Designer Duo Dolce & Gabbana Face Possibility of Jail Sentence for Tax Evasion
By SENATUS News | 30 May 2013

Prosecutors in Milan are seeking prison terms of two years and six months for Italian fashion designer duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for failing to declare 1 billion euros ($1.3 billion) in income to tax authorities.

They are on trial with five other people including company board member Cristiana Ruella and the designers' accountant Luciano Patelli over the tax evasion claims which date back to 2004. Prosecutor Gaetano Ruta told a court during closing arguments that the pair had evaded taxes on 416 million euros each and 200 million through a Luxembourg-based company.
