Sony Entertainment's musical artiste Miley Cyrus has had a standout year by all accounts, dominating the headlines and all the fanfare has culminated in the former child star turned sexy performer getting picked by MTV as the best artist of the year.
The video for her VMA performance for 'We Can’t Stop' and 'Blurred Lines' alongside Robin Thicke was the year’s most watched video on MTV's websites.
Besides 'We Can’t Stop', the song 'Wrecking Ball' and album Bangerz were big hits for Cyrus, who also had notable appearances on Saturday Night Live and MTV’s European music awards show.
Chosen by MTV executives, One Direction won the accolade last year, and Katy Perry won the year before.
