By SENATUS News | 3 June 2014

At the press conference launching the documentary, David Beckham revealed that he had visited Brazil earlier this year, to film a travelogue in the tropical rainforest, heading north to explore the Amazon by bike for a BBC television programme. After arriving in Manaus, the rainforest city where England is set to play Italy this month – the footballer explored the surrounding area by motorbike and boat with friends Derek White and Dave Gardner.

Guided by locals, the star played travel host, visiting the tiny community of Angelin, crossed the river Negro to the banks of the Cuieras River and travelled deep into the rainforest to meet the remote Yanomami tribe.

David Beckham: Into the Unknown is on BBC1 on Monday, June 9 at 8.30pm
