Giorgio Armani Marks 40 Years in Fashion at Haute Couture Week
By SENATUS News | 9 July 2014

This is the week Giorgio Armani turns 80 and marking also his 40 years in fashion, and what better way to celebrate the occasion than with a fashion presentation of the highest order, at Haute Couture Week in Paris. Twice a year, the event serves the Italian designer to showcase a plethora of looks perfect for the red carpet, seamless on the bodies of starlets to stars of Hollwyood.

Revealing Armani Prive’s Fall/Winter 2014/2015 collection to an audience that included Chloë Grace Moretz, Juliette Binoche, Kate Hudson, Jared Leto, Pink and Sophia Loren, reds-and-blacks, matt-and-gloss took centerstage — reminiscent of the chic of Paris in the 70s and 80s.

Trouser suits paired with jackets with peaked shoulders, were alongside red carpet gowns, were both sublime as well as sexy. There was also, as aptly described in the program notes, a "bustier dress with flounces, featuring red polka dots and black veil net embroidered with black sequins, rhinestones and red chenille polka dots" before a finale of three floor-length gowns, made of multiple layers of nets, matched with tight bustiers, that reinforced the collections theme colours of black, red and white. Topping this all off was an ensemble with an overcoat made of veil net, which gave the illusion of a fluffed up fur coat.
