Royal tour of Sweden & Norway
By Alexandrina Kentska | 30 January 2018

The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge's royal tour of Sweden & Norway is officially underway!

Last night they arrived in Stockholm, Sweden where they were driven to the residence of British Ambassador to Sweden, David Cairns.

Ahead of the tour, David Cairns said, "This is something exciting for Great Britain and Sweden's relationship. We're looking forward to it!"

Friendship is the unofficial theme for this week's royal tour. The trip is part of The Duke & Duchess' unofficial duties as Brexit ambassadors, attempting to strengthen the UK's ties with European countries before they leave the EU.

During the four-day tour, Their Royal Highnesses will meet a wide variety of people, including children and young people, those working in the mental health sector, and leaders in business, academia and scientific research, government, civil society and the creative industries.

The royal couple are kicking off the tour with a visit to a bandy hockey event at Vasaparken, an outdoor ice-skating venue in the centre of Stockholm.

Dating back to 1813, the sport of bandy originated in Cambridgeshire, and has now become one of the most popular winter sports in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and the US.

Next, the couple will visit the Royal Palace of Stockholm to attend a luncheon hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

Afterwards, The Duke & Duchess will walk down the cobbled streets to the Nobel Museum, accompanied by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

They will also travel to ArkDes, Sweden’s national centre for architecture and design.

This evening, the couple will attend black tie dinner at the Residence of the British Ambassador, attended by members of the Swedish Royal Family, and representatives from government, and popular culture.

For the first day of the Scandinavian Tour, the Duchess kept warm and toasty in the cold (-1 °C) by wearing the Burberry Double-Breasted Coat in Woolen Skin. The piece is described as "For Fall-Winter 2016, Burberry reinvents its famous trench coat in a shimmery black woolen version. This Italian-made model features shoulder straps, engraved branded buttons, storm flaps and a waist belt." A nod to the local fashion, Kate’s sweater is by a Swedish well-known brand Fjällräven.

Kate wore the £120 Torino Style shoes by Sorel.

The attention grabber item was the Eugenia Kim Rain Fur Pompom Wool Beanie, which is described as "100% arctic fox". It’s reduced from $285 to $213 at Neiman Marcus.

Kate kept it simple for the accessory, opting for her Asprey London button earrings.

I think Kate did a great job mixing British and Swedish fashion brands. What are your thoughts on this look?
