The New RM 53-01 Tourbillon Pablo MacDonough from Richard Mille is the Ultimate Polo-Proof Timepiece #SIHH2018
By SENATUS Magazine | 18 February 2018

Shedding the armoured effect of the titanium carbide dashboard seen in the timepiece's previous iteration, the movement inside the new RM 53-01 is now visible thanks to a transparency made possible by introducing laminated glass in watchmaking.

Sporty and dynamic, this watch built to withstand the shocks and impacts of the rigorous sport of polo is exemplified through a ppartnership with the world's leading sportsman Pablo Macdonough.

The centerpiece is its suspended tourbillon calibre, visible through the unprecedented laminated sapphire glass of its Carbon TPT® case. To achieve this required ingenious micro-engineering.

The first, ‘peripheral’ baseplate, is attached to the caseband and supports the tensioner mechanism. The second, ‘central’ baseplate is attached by cables to the peripheral baseplate and incorporates all of the calibre’s wheels, as well as the winding mechanism.
