Royal Society of Medicine in London
By Alexandrina Kentska | 22 March 2018

Today, The Duchess of Cambridge is at the Royal Society of Medicine in London where she is convening a symposium on the importance of early intervention to provide solid social and emotional platforms for children in their early years, helping them to become healthier and more resilient later in life.

Her Royal Highness is bringing together academics, researchers, practitioners, educators and charities to discuss perinatal, maternal and infant mental health; parenting support; and resources for schools.

The Duchess continued her work highlighting the importance of early intervention for children struggling with mental health issues today.

As part of her work with The Royal Foundation, Kate convened a symposium on the importance of early intervention to provide solid social and emotional platforms for children in their early years, helping them to become healthier and more resilient later in life.

The event was held at the Royal Society of Medicine and chaired by the institution’s president, Professor Sir Simon Wessely.

The Duchess bought together academics, researchers, practitioners, educators and charities to discuss perinatal, maternal and infant mental health; parenting support; and resources for schools.

The Duchess has explored these issues on an individual basis through engagements and roundtable discussions for a while now, but today's event combined these strands together and allowed the experts to explore the potential for an integrated strategy on early intervention.

The symposium today highlighted the fact that 50% of lifetime mental health difficulties begin at the age of 14 and that children from deprived areas are 4.5 times more likely to develop a mental health issue.

In her speech today, The Duchess said, "I really feel so passionately about the importance of early intervention. By working on new approaches together, we can make a real difference for generations to come."

The Duchess debuted a beautiful Spring green maternity ensemble for today's engagement in London.

She returned to one of her go-to labels for bespoke items, Jenny Packham, for what will be one of her final engagements before royal baby #3 arrives next month.

Kate is on a satin coat-dress featuring a bow detail at the collar and a matching dress underneath.

She carried her blush Loeffler Randall 'Tab' clutch (was $137–sold out) which was last seen at Ascot last year, and wore her Kiki McDonough amethyst and diamond cushion drop earrings (£1,166). Kate teamed the look with her suede Gianvito Rossi 'Gianvito 85' praline pink pumps, a slightly shorter version of her 105 praline pumps she wears so often. These ones are available for £495.

This must be one of my favourite maternity looks of Kate's! 🙌🏻

We will see The Duke & Duchess tomorrow as they undertake two engagements celebrating the Commonwealth.
