Here he is! The newest Prince of Cambridge! He is just seven hours old!
The Duke and Duchess have made a brief appearance outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital to introduce their son to the world.
The little prince was born at 11:01am, weighing 8Ibs 7oz — heavier than both George and Charlotte were (8lbs 6oz and 8lbs 3oz respectively). In contrast, Prince William weighed 7lbs 1.5oz back in 1982, and Harry came in at just 6lbs 14oz in 1984.
The baby’s title will be His Royal Highness Prince __ of Cambridge. We can expect a name within a couple of days.
He is the sixth great-grandson of The Queen and Prince Philip and fifth in line to the throne after her sister Princess Charlotte. This is the first time in royal history that a younger brother has not overtaken his sister’s position in line to the throne.
Today, the 23rd of April, is a very patriotic day for the royal baby to be born, as it is St George’s Day (England’s patron saint) as well as the anniversary of the birth and death of William Shakespeare.
The most popular names bookies are considering for the baby are Arthur, Albert, Philip, James, Henry, Michael, Frederick, Charles and William.
I am thinking Prince Arthur Philip William. What do you think?
The Duchess wore a Jenny Packham dress — the same designer who designed the last two dresses worn after the births of George and Charlotte. I think choice of dress had to be intentional, a little tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales once again, who wore something quite similar for Prince Harry’s birth.
Welcome to the world, little prince! So happy for the Cambridge family ❤️
