Prince Harry & Meghan, aka, The Duke & Duchess of Sussex are now officially married! 🥂
Meghan is in a beautiful wedding dress by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy! Clare is a British stylist and artistic director of Givenchy.
Her tiara is Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, made in 1932. Doesn’t she look stunning?! The hymn Guide Me Oh Great Redeemer, which was played at Diana’s funeral, was also played today. Stand By Me was sung by the gospel choir.
The Most Reverend Michael Curry, head of the Episcopal Church in the United States, gave the sermon.
While Prince William chose not to wear a wedding band, Prince Harry has decided to. His grandfather Prince Philip, and uncles the Prince Andrew and Prince Edward all chose not to wear one.
Prince Harry and Meghan have chosen Cleave and Company to make their Wedding rings. Meghan’s ring has been fashioned from a piece of Welsh Gold, gifted by Her Majesty The Queen, just as The Duchess of Cambridge’s was.
The royal family have been using pure Welsh gold for their wedding rings ever since the Queen Mother’s wedding in 1923. The Queen was then gifted a kilogram of Clogau gold on her 60th birthday and it has remained in the royal vaults ever since.
Like Diana and Kate, Meghan chose not to use ‘obey’ in her vows. The couple were also referred to as simply Meghan and Harry, unlike William and Kate, and other royals, that list their middle names.
Prince Harry had asked Diana, Princess of Wales’ sister Lady Jane Fellowes to give a bible reading, as a way of keeping his mother’s memory in the service.
I don’t think the ceremony could have been much more perfect! It was so well thought out and truly special!
