The Los Angeles Lakers took a 3-2 lead into the 6th game of the NBA Finals earlier today, and closed out the series with a commanding 106-93 win over the Miami Heat. This victory secures a record-equalling 17th National Basketball Association championship, and is the first for the organization since 2010. The Lakers' 17 titles pulled them level with the Boston Celtics for the most all-time.
LeBron James fuelled the Lakers with a triple-double of 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists, capturing his fourth NBA title with a third different team.??
James won the Finals' Most Valuable Player Award. He had also claimed the award during two championship runs with Miami and one with Cleveland, and is the first player in NBA history to earn NBA Finals MVP honours with three different teams.
