Inspired by the Grande Complication No. 42500, a pocket watch that dates back to 1902, A. Lange & Söhne presented its most complicated wristwatch in 2013: the GRAND COMPLICATION.
This outstanding timepiece combines a myriad of functions: a perpetual calendar mechanism with moon-phase display, a rattrapante chronograph with minute counter, a flying seconds, as well as a striking mechanism with grande and petite sonnerie and a minute repeater.
The Lange watchmakers were particularly challenged when it came to constructing this watch, as they had to coordinate the various mechanisms – some of which are made up of several hundred parts – individually and with each other.
The GRAND COMPLICATION is limited to six watches, which take several years to produce. This masterpiece is a testament to A. Lange & Soehne's dedication to craftsmanship and quality and its unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of precision watchmaking.
