Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhang-Ke joins as new Rolex Testimonee
By SENATUS Editor | 6 August 2024

Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhang-Ke joining the Rolex Family as a Testimonee. The award-winning director, producer and screenwriter mentors a young filmmaker through the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.

Created in 2002, the programme seeks out gifted young artists in a variety of disciplines from around the world and pairs them with artistic masters for a period of creative collaboration in a one-to-one mentoring relationship. Since its launch, the Arts Initiative has evolved into an enriching dialogue between artists of different generations, cultures and disciplines, helping ensure that the world’s artistic heritage is passed on.

Jia is renowned for ground-breaking realism as he captures the impact of rapid social change on individuals in China. His ‘Still Life‘ won the Golden Lion at the 2006 Venice Film Festival and saw him named Best Director at the Asian Film Awards.
