In a revival that blends mid-century swagger with contemporary precision, Girard-Perregaux reintroduces a cult classic from the golden age of design. Meet the Deep Diver — Legacy Edition, a collaboration with Bamford Watch Department that dives deep into the maison’s archives and resurfaces with bold intent.
Originally launched in 1969 at the height of space-age optimism and avant-garde form, the Deep Diver stood out with its cushion-shaped case and innovative Gyromatic movement — a mechanical marvel of its time. Now, more than half a century later, that same spirit of fearless experimentation is reborn, fusing retro-futuristic charm with modern engineering.
Crafted in Grade 5 titanium, the 40.30mm by 38.00mm case echoes the original Reference 9108, while the dial design nods to the daring colors and shapes of the 1971 model. Think sun-soaked hues of orange, oceanic blues, and crisp whites that radiate against a canvas of luminous markers and retro-styled numerals — all punctuated by a rotating inner bezel and date display, adjusted via a bold crown at 2 o’clock.
More than just a looker, this new Deep Diver is a tactile joy: featherlight on the wrist, with dual crowns (at 2 and 4 o’clock) offering symmetry and subtle heritage cues that hint at the brand’s foundational design work — including the 14-facet bezel that foreshadowed the iconic Laureato.
The watch’s versatility extends beyond aesthetics. An integrated quick-release system lets wearers swap straps with ease — no tools required. Each Legacy Edition comes with a sleek blue rubber strap and a punchy orange alternative, giving this vintage revival a distinctly modern flexibility.
Finishing touches — including era-specific Girard-Perregaux branding and discreet Bamford signatures — round out a timepiece that bridges past and present with effortless sophistication.
A legacy, reimagined. A diver, reborn. The Deep Diver — Legacy Edition surfaces as a tribute to timeless innovation and unapologetic style.
