TAG Heuer redefines the Monaco with radical titanium and split-seconds innovation
By SENATUS Magazine | 20 June 2025

In a bold fusion of heritage and innovation, TAG Heuer returns in 2025 with a striking new evolution of its iconic TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph — now reborn in an entirely reimagined form: the Monaco in TH-Titanium.

This revolutionary new material, developed entirely in-house and dubbed TH-Titanium, offers more than lightness — it gives the watch an elemental, almost living quality. Its textured finish forms a bold new identity for the Monaco, echoing the brand’s relentless pursuit of the avant-garde. The timepiece is framed in sapphire crystal, putting its technical artistry on full display and pushing the limits of what a chronograph can be.

At the heart of this titanium marvel is the Calibre TH81-00, developed in partnership with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Weighing only 30 grams and crafted in titanium, it contributes to the Monaco’s featherweight total of just 86 grams — strap and buckle included. But this isn’t merely about numbers. The split-seconds function, or rattrapante, is among watchmaking’s most intricate complications, enabling dual time interval tracking — ideal for motorsports or any moment that demands absolute precision.

This new Monaco is both a tribute to speed and a masterclass in design. The split-seconds hand, in a sharp lime green, cuts through the black opaline counters with purpose. That same hue accents the titanium pusher and subdial hands — a nod to high-performance racing visuals. The darkened bridges, hand-polished bevels, and architectural movement structure together create a dramatic, almost theatrical depth.

Turn it over, and the sapphire caseback continues the show. The oscillating weight, shaped like the TAG Heuer shield, seems to float, enhanced by symmetrical design, hand-finishing, and a subtle checkered-flag engraving — a detail that speaks directly to the brand’s motorsport lineage. Even the hand-painted racing stripes and brushed balance wheel bridge reveal the quiet discipline behind every element.

Each watch is individually numbered on the rotor and paired with a black calfskin strap, hand-stitched with a textile pattern and fastened by a titanium clasp.

This 2025 Monaco Split-Seconds isn’t just a timepiece — it’s a bold testament to TAG Heuer’s belief that materials should not only function, but feel. In TH-Titanium, the brand finds new life for the Monaco — and for watchmaking’s future.
