Audemars Piguet debuts coloured forged carbon in a bold Royal Oak Concept
Pushing the boundaries of material innovation, Audemars Piguet unveils a striking new Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date, measuring 43 mm and introducing, for the very first time, a brand-new coloured forged carbon.
Developed in the Maison’s R&D workshops, the revolutionary material is born of Chroma Forged Technology (CFT) — a process that infuses the deep black carbon with delicate threads of colour. The result is a unique aesthetic: subtle blue luminescent pigments glimmer within the carbon, offering both visual intrigue and a contemporary edge. Beyond beauty, CFT delivers substance — the non-porous carbon achieves unprecedented resistance to humidity, heat, and shocks, while remaining feather-light on the wrist.
The architecture of the case speaks to the Concept line’s uncompromising power. A forged carbon case middle is framed by a black ceramic bezel, crown, push-pieces, and caseback, combining technical resilience with sleek contrast. The dial carries the theme forward, its dark layers punctuated with electric blue accents, creating a futuristic tableau of light and shadow.
At once avant-garde and unmistakably Royal Oak, this debut represents more than a technical milestone. It is a bold declaration of Audemars Piguet’s vision: horology not only as performance, but as an evolving canvas for design, materials, and daring expression.
