Chopard Reveals The L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 With A Straw Marquetry Dial

Chopard continues to merge technical brilliance with artistic poetry in the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25, now unveiled in an exclusive eight-piece limited edition. At its heart beats the L.U.C 98.06-L jumping-hour movement, a calibre first presented to celebrate the Manufacture’s 25th anniversary. Thanks to the Maison’s patented Quattro technology, with four barrels delivering an impressive eight-day power reserve, it stands as one of the rare jumping-hour watches with such autonomy.

Encased in 40 mm of ethical rose gold, the watch epitomizes the pared-back elegance of the L.U.C collection, while its dial tells a far more intricate story: a honeycomb motif crafted in straw marquetry. For the first time in the history of L.U.C, this ancestral 17th-century decorative art adorns the dial, carried out by an artisan specially trained in the Manufacture’s workshops.

The process begins with rye straw, cultivated in Burgundy, dyed a radiant green, split by hand, and flattened with pliers. Each strand is cut into delicate hexagons, their thickness, grain, and hue carefully varied to create a textured, three-dimensional effect. Piece by piece, the artisan recreates the honeycomb pattern long associated with the L.U.C collection—chosen by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele as a metaphor for industrious collaboration and shared excellence.

A final wax polish brings lustre to the surface, while the jumping hours aperture at six o’clock ensures legibility without interrupting the dial’s artistry. Certified by the Poinçon de Genève, this timepiece is not only a marvel of high horology but also a celebration of patience, tradition, and the beauty of human hands.
