Hermès Arceau Reimagined With A Playful Horse Dial

First sketched in 1978 by Henri d’Origny, the Arceau watch has long embodied Hermès’ quiet wit and artisanal savoir-faire. Its round case, accented by asymmetrical stirrup lugs, has become a canvas for the Maison’s most imaginative expressions. In its latest transformation, Arceau becomes a stage for artistry that is at once playful, intricate, and uniquely Hermès.

The dial reinterprets the mischievous horse imagined by Dimitri Rybaltchenko for the Rocabar de rire silk scarf, brought to life through engraving, miniature painting, and vibrant horsehair marquetry. With the press of a discreet pusher at 9 o’clock, the horse bursts into animation—sticking out its tongue and striking its profile against a backdrop of bold, striped marquetry. The effect is both lighthearted and exquisite, a wink to the Maison’s equestrian roots.

Inside, the Hermès H1837 movement beats with signature finesse, its bridges and oscillating weight adorned with a sprinkling of H motifs, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. Hours, minutes, and the “on-demand impulse” animation are seamlessly orchestrated, balancing technical mastery with joyful invention.

A feat of craftsmanship and imagination, the new Arceau proves once more that at Hermès, time is never merely measured—it is enchanted.
