The pursuit of capturing time often leads to the heavens, where solar rhythms and lunar cycles dictate the pace of life. In a sophisticated bridge between East and West, a remarkable timepiece has emerged that translates the intricate Chinese calendar into a mechanical form. This latest release marks a significant milestone as the fifteenth interpretation of this specific calendar complication by Blancpain.
Crafted from platinum and limited to just 50 pieces, the new model introduces a striking salmon rose Grand Feu enamel dial. The aesthetic is defined by the signature understated elegance of the collection, featuring a round double stepped case and leaf shaped hands. Applied numerals in 18 carat white gold provide a delicate contrast against the warmth of the enamel.
Beneath its refined exterior lies the calibre 3638, a movement comprising 464 components that took five years to develop in house. This mechanism far exceeds the complexity of a standard perpetual calendar. It manages to display the twelve zodiac animals, the five elements, and the dual forces of Yin and Yang alongside a Gregorian date and moon phase.
Setting such a dense array of information is made effortless through five patented hidden correctors. These are placed discreetly beneath the lugs and on the case back, allowing for fingertip adjustments without the need for tools. This design ensures the flanks of the 45.2 mm case remain smooth and unmarred by traditional adjusting dimples.
The reverse side of the watch reveals a 22K gold winding rotor designed by the Métiers d'Art workshop. It depicts a horse in full gallop treading upon a flying swallow, a poetic reference to the legendary Heavenly Horse of Chinese imperial lore. This symbolic artwork is visible through a sapphire case back, alongside a natural ruby and traditional characters for horse and fire.
Engineered for endurance, the timepiece features three barrels that provide a substantial seven day power reserve. It is finished with a brown leather strap and offers water resistance up to 30 metres. This edition celebrates the arrival of the Fire Horse on February 17th, 2026, serving as a testament to deep cultural knowledge and mechanical integrity.
