Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
By Men's Journal Online | 3 October 2012

Revealing his premier menswear collection for Yves Saint Laurent as the revamped Saint Laurent, new creative director Hedi Slimane returns to the fashion front after a hiatus, following his successful tenure at the helm of Dior Homme. Staying true to his rock roots and revolutionary slim silhouette, Slimane injects his signature take on youth and cool into the Parisian fashion house. Featuring trim garments with a dominant color palette of black & white, it’s a smooth transition from casual to formal with sharp tailoring afoot. Cut from leather, trousers with a paper bag waist fit in perfectly with biker jackets, slender accents and a penchant for an apologetic touch of glamour as seen in sequined jackets. Meanwhile, denim is an easy sale, shown alongside crisp white shirting, featuring charming geometric prints. Ultimately chic, Slimane’s creative direction champions a mode that picks up with the designer’s past and jettisons it into the contemporary age with a forceful hand that is difficult to resist.
