Head designer for the italian fashion house Prada, Muccia Prada and husband Patrizio Bertelli who is the chief executive officer have invested €40 million (£32 million) on their newest luxury super yacht set to embark on the historic America's Cup race, in San Francisco in 2013.
Having unveiled their Luna Rossa sailing team last week in Auckland, New Zealand, this is the fourth time the duo behind Prada is taking part in the annual challenge. Arguably, their most extravagant vessel to date, the 22-foot maxi catamaran took some 300 workers a total of 52,000 hours to complete.
"I feel it's inappropriate to call it a boat or a yacht, it's an industrial artefact that happens to sail on the ocean." said Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli.
