This year, Piaget Altiplano celebrates 60 years of supreme elegance with an anniversary collection.
The Altiplano 60th Anniversary collection timepieces are refreshed with new colours that pay tribute to the vintage Altiplano timepieces with coloured stone dials, but still maintaining its timeless elegance.
As part of the yearlong celebrations dedicated to this watchmaking icon, Piaget puts an unexpected twist on a timeless classic... the ultra-thin timepiece takes leave from its owner's wrist to become an original pocket watch.
This isn't the first time the Altiplano has seen a re-creation as a pocket novelty. Back in 2007 for its 50th anniversary, Piaget had released one as well.
For those who crave an original companion, the Altiplano 60th Anniversary Pocket Watch is a nostalgic throwback reference for those who want the convenience of clean wrists, or the sartorial sophistication of a watch hidden in a vest pocket, tethered in a blue calfskin leather string to match the blue dial.
The limited edition Altiplano 60th Anniversary Pocket Watch is fitted in an 18k white gold case, with a 50mm diameter - slightly larger than wrist watch versions - and an approximate thickness of 7mm.
It retains all the design codes of the collection, with the traditional slenderness of the 1950s – flat and polished bezel, rather sharp edges.
It can also be transformed into a table clock when placed in the centre of an elegant blue marquetry stand, punctuated by elongated markers. The straw marquetry on the circular frame is the result of craftsmanship similar to wood marquetry.
When displayed on a specially designed marquetry stand, the legendary Altiplano is more than a watch...
It becomes a piece of art, a timeless expression of elegance
