Blancpain introduces its latest limited edition timepiece: the Blancpain Ocean Commitment (BOC) Fifty Fathoms Tech IV. This 45 mm diver’s watch is limited to just 100 pieces, and the funds raised from its sales will benefit the newly established Blancpain x Sulubaaï Marine Research Center. This center extends the Sea Academy project, a vital initiative that Blancpain has championed for over 20 years, aimed at supporting marine exploration and conservation.
Blancpain’s Ocean Commitment initiative, launched over 20 years ago, reflects the brand's unwavering dedication to ocean conservation. Rooted in its rich history, dating back to the creation of the world’s first true diver’s watch, the Fifty Fathoms, Blancpain has long been a pioneer in supporting marine exploration and preservation. Through the Ocean Commitment initiative, the brand funds vital oceanographic research, supports sustainable practices, and establishes marine protected areas worldwide.
This ongoing mission highlights Blancpain's belief in the urgent need to protect the planet’s oceans for future generations. With each watch sold, Blancpain will donate €1,000 to the Blancpain x Sulubaaï Marine Research Center, with the goal of raising €100,000 to further support marine research and conservation efforts.
The Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV offers both cutting-edge watchmaking and functionality for divers. Designed to be both a practical tool for underwater exploration and an elegant everyday accessory, this limited-edition model shares its design with the Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 2 Tech Gombessa. It features a durable Grade 23 titanium case with a helium valve, making it ideal for saturation dives, while the unidirectional bezel with a ceramic insert allows for easy operation, even with diving gloves. The watch’s black dial absorbs up to 97% of light, ensuring maximum readability underwater. The integrated black rubber strap offers both comfort and a modern, ergonomic fit.
Inside, the BOC IV is powered by Blancpain’s calibre 1315A automatic movement, offering a five-day power reserve and exceptional chronometric performance. The movement’s anti-magnetic silicon balance spring guarantees precision, while the 18 ct gold oscillating weight, adorned with the blue BOC logo, is visible through the sapphire case back.
Beyond its remarkable craftsmanship, the Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV supports Blancpain’s broader marine conservation efforts. The newly inaugurated Blancpain x Sulubaaï Marine Research Center, a key extension of the Sea Academy programme, focuses on the sustainable management of marine resources. With the sales of the limited edition BOC IV, Blancpain will further its mission to protect marine ecosystems, particularly around Pangatalan Island and Shark Fin Bay in the Philippines.
Each of the 100 limited-edition watches comes with a PelicaseTM box, a donation certificate, and a numbered print by award-winning photographer Laurent Ballesta, depicting a horseshoe crab in its natural habitat—an endangered species that benefits from the brand’s marine protected areas. Owners of the BOC IV are also invited to join the Blancpain Ocean Commitment Circle, a community dedicated to ocean preservation.
