Capella Singapore, the ultra-luxury resort on Sentosa Island, has been named one of the world's top 40 business hotels in the September issue of London-based Wallpaper* magazine.
Wallpaper* teamed up with Fortune magazine to celebrate the best new business hotels around the globe and the shortlist of 40 properties will be whittled down to just ten in the December 2010 issue of the magazine (on sale on 11 November).
This year, Wallpaper* noted a "blurring of the line between what constitutes a business hotel and what a resort.
Capella Singapore being a case in point as far from being a city centre hotel, it is situated in 30 acres of lush rainforest on Sentosa Island and is regarded as Singapore’s premier resort destination, yet it also offers every amenity for the business traveller.
Capella Singapore opened in March 2009, with restoration of the property overseen by award-winning architect Lord Norman Foster and decor styled by leading international interior designers Jaya Ibrahim, Andre Fu and Yasuhiro Koichi.
The hotel offers 112 guestrooms including two Colonial Manors, 38 villas and 4 Constellation rooms with private rooftop Jacuzzis.
Dining options include Chinese fine dining at Cassia, all day dining of international and Asian cuisine at The Knolls and revitalising drinks and tapas at Bob's Bar.
Capella Singapore also features the Auriga Spa, a fitness centre, meeting rooms and a business centre with two boardrooms, a Library and three cascading outdoor pools.
The judges in charge of selecting the top ten winners include renowned American travel journalist Peter Greenberg, and the chef and restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
