Founded in 1966, Cohiba - the makers of arguably the world's most luxurious hand-rolled cigars - celebrates a grand half century of existence this year.

On 24 May, Zenith represented by its CEO, Aldo Magada, launched the El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Cohiba Edition watch to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Cohiba, in the city of Havana in Cuba.

The coming together of the Swiss watch manufacture and the Cuban cigarmaker sees a commonplace in the shared universe of authenticity, precision and excellence. Like the most luxurious of hand-rolled cigars requiring painstaking handiwork and exact processes, the El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Cohiba Edition embodies high-quality craftsmanship dedicated to an exclusive way of life.

Aldo Magada adds, "At Zenith we are proud and happy to be partnering with Cohiba, which is not only the best Habanos brand, but also represents the same relentless quest for product excellence that we have been pursuing for more than 150 years."

On the dial coloured by a distinctive Havana brown, is a decoration of two vertical lines (one gold, one black with white square dots, similar to the paper band on the cigar) and distinctive motifs of the Cuban brand.

The famous profile of aboriginal chief Taino, the tobacco company's emblem, appears between the official logos of Zenith and Cohiba.

Facetted, luminescent hands for the hours and minutes are topped by a domed sapphire crystal, completing the display.

Chronograph functions include a tachymeter on the dial, a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock and a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock.

An opening of the dial at 11 o'clock reveals the automatic El Primero 4061 chronograph movement. Beating at 36,000 vibrations an hour, the integrated column-wheel construction is COSC certified. Equipped with a silicon lever and escape-wheel, this chronometer is endowed with an over 50-hour power reserve.

The movement is housed in an 42 mm-diameter case, fitted with a fluted crown and two round push-pieces. Turning the watch over, the movement is visible via a sapphire crystal on the case back.

Waterproof up to 10 bar, the El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Cohiba Edition comes with a brown alligator leather strap, with 50 available in rose gold  and 500 in stainless steel.

El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Cohiba Edition is now available in Singapore and can purchased at authorized retailers and:
