Carved out of magnificent limestone rocks with a view over the blue-green Adriatic, La Hotel Grotta Palazzese in Polignano a Mare offers an enchanting dining experience that is unparalleled.

The ancient town of Polignano a Mare sits atop a rocky cliff. and over aeons, the sea has carved out of the limestone rockface, caves beneath the streets of the town.

Of these caves the largest is the Grotta Pallazzese, which lies at the heart of the La Hotel Grotta Palazzese, offering luxurious rooms and suites carved out of the rock.

The most sought after of these accommodations enjoy romantic views of the sea from private balconies.

An Enchanted History
Through the ages, famed travelers, including Queen Giovanna of Hungary, have sought out the peace and tranquility of Polignano a Mare and its caverns.

French and British tourists doing the Grand Tour in the Ancient Kingdom of Naples, have included these caverns on their itinerary, and have written home of their beauty and majesty.  By the 1700's, the caves had become well-established as function rooms for noblemen and local dignitaries.

Today, this cavern houses the hotel's famous summer restaurant.
