MengShi China's "Humvee"

BEIJING Xinhua Agency reports that DongFeng's MengShi outperforms GM's Humve

Currently used by the Chinese Liberation Army (since 2007), Chief Designer from DongFeng reports that the MengShi, meaning: warrior, currently surpasses the Humvee in 12 out of 15 battlefield-performance tests. These parameters include loading capacity and oil consumption, as measured during use by the Chinese armed force

Six years were spent developing the vehicle, with 75 patents registered, over 200,000 hours of factory testing and more than 1.6 million km clocked on the road. The vehicle comes in at a weight of 1.36 tonnes.

Furthermore, Xinhua reports that the MengShi has also undergone environmental and geological tests, such as airdropping, high altitude and extreme weather condition

In January 2009, it received the first-class award of national science and technological progress in Beijing, China - the first for an automaker in the past 22 years.

A retail version will be sold on the market soon.
