For the first time in six years, Giorgio Armani heads to China, feting with a "One Night Only in Beijing" themed extravaganza to celebrate the Italian label's more than a decade-long presence in China.
Giorgio Armani opened his first boutique in Beijing in 1998; he now boasts 289 stores across the country.
More than 1,000 guests attended Giorgio Armani's biggest "One Night Only in Beijing" event which was held at the New Tank located within the city’s famous 798 Art District - the first time the venue has hosted a show of such international scale.
The event featured a condensed fashion showcase of both the Menswear and Womenswear fall winter 2012/ 2013 collections from Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani. The highlight was of course the Privé Spring Summer 2012 Haute Couture Collection which had an additional 15 looks specially produced by Mr Armani for the event in an homage to China.
Gracing the evening was international celebrity Michelle Yeoh who chose to wear a gorgeous green accented mermaid gown constructed with silver flounces in lamé tulle from the Giorgio Armani Privé Collection.
Other attendees included Armani's very own VIPs, institution officials, members of the local and foreign media, Belgium royalty Princess Maria Laura as well as famous celebrities such as Tina Turner, Fan Bingbing, Shu Qi, Daniel Wu, Guey Lunmei and Liu Ye.
"I’ve always had a very special relationship with China… It is a place to which I have paid homage in many of my collections,” Armani noted.
"More than a decade after my arrival in China, it seems to me that the time has come to celebrate our presence in the country and to present the current collections in a special way, edited just for this purpose."
Following the fashion show, Grammy award winning singer Mary J Blige performed live at the party which was then closed with beats by New York's DJ Jesse Marco who brought the house down with his set.
