In a bid to make women's use of public transportation safer, the Mexican city of Puebla has launched a new innovative solution, by providing pink taxis exclusively for women, driven by women, and equipped with mechanisms to prevent attacks.

The fleet of 35 pink Chevy taxis come with beauty kits, a GPS system and an alarm button that alerts emergency services.

The capital of Puebla is the first city in Mexico to provide this “reliable and safe” service 24 hours a day.

This company is part of a growing trend of women for women taxis around the globe. Similar services have been launched in Australia, England, Iran, India, Lebanon, Russia and the United Arab Emirates.
