Rolls-Royce Black Badge Dawn to make Southeast Asia Debut in Singapore for Inaugural Fullerton Concours d'Elegance 2018

25 June 2018

By Scott Campbell

The all-black "souped"-up version of the Rolls-Royce Dawn will be making its Southeast Asia debut at the Inaugural Fullerton Concours d'Elegance 2018 event this upcoming weekend, giving attendees an up-close look at the discreetly aggressive streak to Rolls-Royce's fleet.

Black Badge is a permanent Bespoke family of motor cars designed in response to the more demanding lifestyle requirements of younger, more dynamic patrons of luxury. With Dawn Black Badge, Rolls-Royce completes the trinity of bolder and darker alter-egos for its Ghost, Wraith and Dawn models.

Dawn Black Badge receives a deeply intense shade of black exterior treatment, and the open top four-seater is billed as the "most glamorous, uncompromising expression of open-top luxury" there is.

The Black Badge version of the Dawn gets more power than a "regular" Dawn, with  an extra 30bhp liberated from the 6.6-litre, twin-turbo V12, bringing the total to 593bhp. Torque is up by 15lb ft to 620lb ft. 0-62mph takes 4.9 seconds and the top speed is limited to 155mph.

It comes with an entirely new exhaust system, which when deployed by the press of the 'low' button, converts the throaty roar of the Rolls-Royce hallmark V12 engine into a menacing bass baritone, announcing its arrival with authority rather than hysteria.

The iconic Spirit of Ecstasy on the car bonnet transforms into a high-gloss "vamp," once shiny and prominent is now finished in black chrome for a decidedly mysterious appearance. The same transformation to a darker aesthetic also extends to other traditional chrome surfaces including the front grille surround, boot lid finisher, exhaust pipes and air inlet finisher.

On the interior, the black leather is accented boldly with Mandarin highlights, including a strip of orange highlight which encircles the cabin at hip-height, evocative of the sunset before the passengers are immersed in darkness.

Finally, the "Double R" logo signifiers on the Rolls-Royce badges are inverted in colour, confirming the creation of a true alter-ego of the marque.

Dawn Black Badge is now available to commission.
