Wintastar Shanghai (冰雪之星) has broken ground and begins construction this week. Located in Lingang City (临港主城区) in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, it is in close proximity to the Shanghai Haichang Polar Ocean Park and just within minutes from the upcoming Shanghai Disney Resort.
The highly-anticipated integrated sports-entertainment-tourism resort that spans over a gross floor area of approximately 227,000sqm, is set to provide residents and visitors with year-round access to the world’s largest indoor Ski & Snow Park that will span 90,000 sqm, featuring a combination of three ski slopes of varying gradients including a slope of Olympics standard for training; ski runs, and over 25 snow play attractions for non-skiers.
Montigo Resorts will also make its first foray into China, with four themed hotels of varying price points and experiences, such as ski-in ski-out facilities, après-ski, and a unique ice hotel experience.
In addition, a 28,000 sqm Viking-themed water park promises twists, inversions and record-setting waterslides presented over two levels, to deliver the best, interactive, overall water-play experience for thrill-seekers and families throughout the year.
Providing a holistic experience that rides on story immersion and themes, Wintastar will feature world-class winter sport competitions, ice sculpture shows, several theatres showcasing a wide variety of theatrical shows, concerts and multi-dimensional cinematic displays, exciting retail, and food and beverage establishments.
The resort's mixture of sports, leisure, hospitality, entertainment and tourism taps on new consumer trends in China, as well as ahead of Beijing hosting the Winter Olympics in 2022.
