Launched during the Patek Philippe Tokyo 2023 WATCH ART™ grand exhibition, the new World Time (Ref. 5330) features a patented world first: a date indication synchronized with local time. The date mechanism, comprised of 70 parts, allows the selected time zone to appear at 12 o’clock and is displayed by the central hands.
To provide this useful and highly practical function, Patek Philippe has developed a new movement, the 240 HU C caliber, equipped with an innovative patented differential system for managing the local-time date. Its is a limited series of a 300 timepiece.
The plum-colored dial is adorned with a hand-guilloched center. The date is displayed on the beveled flange by a red-tipped central hand – the first ever from Patek Philippe made of glass and for which two patents have been filed. The name of Tokyo appears in red on the city disk corresponding to the 24 time zones.
On the 24-hour disk – subdivided into two day/night zones identified by their rhodium-plated or plum-colored background – the sun symbol is replaced by a red rising sun, the emblem of Japan.
The entirely polished white gold case measuring 40 mm in diameter is distinguished by its curved two-tier lugs. The shiny black alligator leather strap with plum-colored hand stitching has a white gold foldover clasp. The sapphire case back is adorned with the “Patek Philippe - Tokyo” inscription.
