Merlin Entertainments Group which currently owns and operates 15 Madame Tussauds wax museums around the world, with five of them in Asia, has together with Sentosa Development Corp announced that the famed exhibit will open in the second half of 2014 on Sentosa Island in Singapore. It will take over the management of Images of Singapore historical museum in the process.

Ms Meike Schulze, the Directional Director of Merlin Entertainments’ Midway Attractions, said the company is investing about S$20 million on both the Madam Tussauds and Images of Singapore projects.

Madam Tussauds in Singapore will include individuals who have “had a hand in shaping Singapore”, besides celebrities and key historical figures from around the world.

“Asia is currently the most important growth area for the world for Merlin ... As an exciting and vibrant international hub, Singapore is the ideal location for a Madam Tussauds,” Ms Schulze said.
