Launch of Cartier's Juste un Clou at Salone del Mobile in Milan
By SENATUS Editor | 9 May 2017

Cartier held a pop-up installation at the Milan Design Fair "Salone del Mobile" entitled "Precious Garage" to showcase the re-launch of its Juste un Clou and Écrou de Cartier collections.

The former a nail, the latter, a bolt -- Both inspired by hardware and the most ordinary of objects into jewellery of desire and individuality.

The worlds of form and mechanics collude in the Precious Garage exhibition designed for Cartier by New York-based Puerto Rican visual artist Desi Santiago. Known for his scenic performance work, Santiago stages installations shaped by socio-cultural references to the worlds of nightlife and fashion.

The venue juxtaposes the ordinary and the precious, establishing a dialogue between mechanics and jewellery, crafts and design: a raw and glittering setting with Cartier grooms in overalls, tools of the trade scattered amongst drawers laden with jewellery and a car suspended from the ceiling with a golden liquid oozing to the oor.
