Place2Be's School Leader's Forum
By Alexandrina Kentska | 8 November 2017

Today The Duchess of Cambridge attended Place2Be's School Leader's Forum to discuss mental health work being done in schools across the U.K.

This is the third forum the charity is hosting, and the third time Kate has attended. This year the forum is entitled, "I'm fine!" Topics being discussed include parental mental health, early intervention and support in schools.

The Duchess heard from a number of speakers who are experts in the fields of child psychology, psychiatry and research, as well as head teachers from Place2Be partner schools.

Early intervention school support for children's mental health is a key priority for Kate. Place2Be was one of her chosen patronages as it focuses on children's mental wellbeing in schools and provides therapeutic and emotional services in 282 primary and secondary schools.

Last year the charity's services reaches over 135,000 pupils, helping them to cope with a wide-ranging and often complex social issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, family breakdown, neglect and trauma.

A child's mental wellbeing has a direct impact on their friendships, classroom learning and home life. The charity's one-on-one counseling sessions are responsible for the notable improvement in children's performance in these areas.

However, not only does the charity provide support for children and their parents/carers, they also provide support to teachers and school staff.

Kate spoke today about the important role parents and teachers play in safeguarding child mental health:

"As a mother just getting used to leaving my own child at the school gates, it is clear to me that it takes a whole community to help raise a child," she said. "Whether we are school leaders, teachers, support staff or parents — we're all in this together. We are all working to give children the emotional strength they need to face their futures and thrive."

I sharing the letter Kate wrote for today's event with her patronage Place2Be. You can see in the bottom right corner there is a lovely new portrait of her! She is wearing her blue Catherine Walker peplum jacket worn last year in The Netherlands.

The Duchess was looking chic in a new plum dress for today's Place2Be Leaders Forum.

She opted for the 100% wool 'Eloise Tunic Dress' by one of her long-time favourite labels, Goat Fashion.

The loose-fitting dress is available for £480/$630 in sizes 6, 10 and 14 in Plum, as well as limited sizes in Dark Navy and Marigold. It also comes in black but is over $100 more expensive than the other colours and is called 'Eclipse'.

The dress is described: "Simple, chic and timeless the Eloise dress in a deep purple hue is a wardrobe must-have. A line shaped with a high neckline decorated with shine pewter buttons the Eloise is perfect for teaming with flats for a more casual look or heels to dress up."

You might recognize Kate's earrings today. They are her Mappin & Webb 'Empress 18ct White Gold Diamond Drop Earrings' which are available for £1,500/$1,965.

Kate carried her trusty Mulberry black suede clutch and had on her Cartier Ballon Bleu watch again.

She wore some black opaque tights and had on her semi-new block heels from Tod's to finish off the look. Kate debuted these black suede pumps at the engagement at the Paddington Station a few weeks ago. They were originally £335/$440 before selling out.

Once again Kate also wore a poppy pin for Remembrance Day coming up.

I think the shift dress style gives it a little 60s vibe. I love this look. How about you guys?
