Loewe continues its annual tradition of celebrating Chinese craft with a multifaceted tribute to the Year of the Horse. This year, the house has collaborated with the Shanghai Animation Film Studio to co-create an animated short film that pays homage to the classic fable Little Horse Crossing the River by Peng Wenxi. The story follows a young horse on a courageous journey to fetch lanterns for his village, encountering a deer, a platypus, and Global Brand Ambassador Wang Yibo along the way.
The New Year collection 2026 takes direct inspiration from the spirit of the horse, featuring tactile reinterpretations of iconic Loewe designs. Special editions of the Puzzle and Amazona 31 cropped bags arrive adorned with hand-knotted tassels and fringes that mimic the texture of a horse's mane. Playful horse-shaped charms and dice accompany the leather goods, while exclusive leather overshirts mirroring the one worn by Wang Yibo in the film will be available in select boutiques across China.
Accompanying the collection is a campaign photographed by Nick Yang featuring Wang Yibo alongside model Wei Yiting. The celebratory atmosphere extends into physical spaces with elaborate lantern displays in Shanghai and Chengdu that draw on the creatures and landscapes featured in the animated film. A landmark activation at Nanjing Yuyuan Garden will further integrate architectural aesthetics with Loewe’s designs through themed lantern creations.
The collection will be available in stores and on the brand’s digital platform beginning January 8. Through this intersection of literary heritage and modern craft, the house honors symbols of hope and reunion during the festive season.
