The year 1976 marked a seismic shift in horology when the legendary designer Gérald Genta introduced the Ingenieur SL. His vision of a luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet and a bold, technical aesthetic redefined modern elegance. Half a century later, IWC Schaffhausen celebrates the 50th anniversary of this definitive Genta masterpiece by blending its historic geometry with the most advanced materials of the present day.

At Watches and Wonders Geneva, IWC Schaffhausen unveiled a striking evolution of this heritage. For the first time, the integrated bracelet design is presented in a deep, dark olive green ceramic. This choice of material offers a modern tactile experience, as ceramic is significantly lighter than steel and provides exceptional scratch resistance.

The aesthetic is one of refined contrast. The moody green of the ceramic case and "Grid" patterned dial is punctuated by the warmth of 18-carat 5N gold. The crown is crafted from solid gold, while the functional screws securing the bezel are made of Armor Gold, a specialized alloy with significantly higher hardness than conventional gold.

To maintain the exact proportions of the original design, IWC Schaffhausen utilized a multi-part ceramic case construction. Inside, the IWC-manufactured 82110 calibre employs the Pellaton winding system, featuring ceramic components that are essentially immune to wear. With a power reserve of 60 hours, the brand has created an instrument that honors its engineering past while firmly embracing the future.
