In the silent, snow-covered stretches of the Vallée de Joux, Jaeger-LeCoultre continues to redefine the boundaries of what a timepiece can be. With the reveal of the Master Hybris Mechanica Ultra Thin Minute Repeater Tourbillon, the Maison presents a new interpretation of its celebrated ultra-thin calibre that unites a minute repeater with a flying tourbillon. This open-worked masterpiece is housed in an 18K pink gold case measuring just 8.25 mm thick, ensuring the entire mechanism is open to view.

The soul of this creation is the Calibre 362, which remains the world's thinnest automatic minute repeater tourbillon. Rather than superimposing separate layers for each complication, the movement was conceived from the outset as a fully integrated architecture. This integration is fundamental to achieving exceptional thinness, with the striking mechanism re-engineered to occupy approximately one third of the calibre's total volume.

To reveal the beauty of its 593 components, Jaeger-LeCoultre looked beyond traditional skeletonisation. Three essential structural bridges are meticulously constructed from transparent sapphire crystal rather than metal, representing a significant accomplishment for the Maison. Because direct ruby setting into sapphire was not feasible, 18K pink gold chatons were ingeniously employed to enhance the calibre's aesthetic purity.

The flying tourbillon at the heart of the display is suspended without an upper bridge, reducing structural height while enhancing visual lightness. To ensure timekeeping accuracy within such a slender profile, engineers invented and patented an S-shaped hairspring, which is fully visible thanks to the absence of a tourbillon bridge. Every detail is a structural contributor to thinness, including the peripheral oscillating mass that encircles the movement to eliminate the thickness of a conventional winding rotor.

Testament to the Manufacture's enduring quest to create the perfect chime, the minute repeater features one-piece, square-profile gongs paired with articulated trebuchet-style hammers. A patented silent time-lapse reduction mechanism ensures a fluid acoustic sequence by dramatically minimising the pause between the hour and minute chimes. This generates a sound that is at once powerful and refined, integrated directly into the calibre's main structure.

The dial is elegantly complemented by an 18K pink gold case, distinguished by a variety of surface finishes that enhance the play of light across its contours. An open-worked ring of 18K white gold reveals the elegantly guilloché winding rotor, a masterpiece crafted within the Maison’s Métiers Rares ateliers. Limited to just ten pieces, this watch stands as a demonstration of technical ingenuity and aesthetic beauty from the Watchmaker of Watchmakers.
