'Across Art and Fashion' Exhibition by Salvatore Ferragamo

26 May 2016

By Natalie White

Salvatore Ferragamo celebrated the splendor of Florence earlier in May, where it has called home for almost 90 years, with the kicking off 'Across Art and Fashion', its new annual exhibition exploring the rapport between art and fashion, seen through the prism of the true artisan.

On display are major works spanning from the Pre-Raphaelites to contemporary fashion design via the Futurists, the Surrealists, and Warhol, as well as new Limited Edition Salvatore Ferragamo hand crafted bags, created for the exhibition and mirroring its themes of fashion, art and artisanal savoir- faire.

Amongst the showcase of Ferragamo's inspiration include the works of Sonia Delaunay and from Kenneth Noland's circular abstraction, as well as contemporary designers like Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake, Yinka Shonibare, Martin Margiela, Helmut Lang and Gareth Pugh.

Ferruccio Ferragamo added, "...the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo's latest exhibition... reflect just some of the many ways both our family and the company strive to further our longstanding traditions as patron of the arts."
