Since 1983, the late Karl Lagerfeld had been at the helm of French luxury label, Chanel, and before the maestro passed on, he and renowned stylist Carine Roitfeld joined forces one last time to create Chanel’s Spring 2019 campaign.
Monochrome and colour images feature a diverse model cast which includes Adesuwa Aighewi, Hyun Ji Shin, Kris Grikaite, Nora Attal, Rebecca Leigh Longendyke, Sarah Dahl, and Vittoria Ceretti.
The campaign, a selection of ready-to-wear, ready for retail pieces from the runway presentation, showcases the brand's iconic tweed pieces alongside a collection of other textiles.
The hachimaki, a headband that is a traditional Japanese style symbol of courage, appears in one of the images - an appropriation of culture that Lagerfeld commonly wielded to fashion success.
