Founded by a trio of Singaporeans - Lionel Low, Hariz Yihao Lim and Julianatasha Salleh, LION EARL made the waves as part of the PARCO next NEXT fashion show at the 2013 edition of Audi Fashion Festival on 18 May.
About PARCO next NEXT
PARCO next NEXT as a joint initiative between PARCO Singapore and the Textile & Fashion Federation (TaFf), with the support of SPRING Singapore and was launched in 2010 as a fashion design incubator project with a mission of nurturing promising local design talents in Singapore.
Its retail zone at PARCO Marina Bay features specially curated selections of Singapore’s most exciting new labels in a showcase encompassing a range of diverse and evolving fashion concepts, from avant-garde to high street chic.
The PARCO next NEXT project helps young designers hone and transform their creative ideas into successful and competitive businesses via an extensive 18-month creative and business mentoring programme under the guidance of industry veterans such as David Wang, Nic Wong and Daniel Yam.
LION EARL Looked To TRON For Inspiration
For its showcase during Audi Fashion Festival, LION EARL featured its current Spring Summer 2013 collection, entitled "Moon Crust".
Inspired by the futuristic designs of the TRON movies, the fashion label employed aesthetic elements using digital manipulation, creating a fusion of fashion and architecture, a hallmark of the young label.
The sleek and surreal sci-fi visual aesthetics were incorporated into the designs, fused with new and original, experimental digital prints.
In addition, the darts, seams and folds seen in its womenswear designs are "capable of manifesting any design as long as the geometric principles at play are in tact".
In non-designer speak, that means the clothing's intricate details adapt to the wearer's body, whilst maintaining the dress' unique silhouette.
Lion Earl's collection looks set to appeal to creative individuals, with its blend of art, architecture and fashion, coming together in "genre-defying outfits".
Some of the pieces from the collection are now retailing at PARCO Marina Bay whilst the statement and avantgarde are bespoke pieces that will be exclusively produced based on client specifications.
