First launched back in 2017, Montblanc has just upgraded its luxury smartwatch offering with the Summit 2. Wielding a distinctively classic and vintage look, the wrist device is now available in a more compact unisex 42mm case size that delivers the feeling of a mechanical watch on the wrist while offering innovative new technological features.
Inspired by the Montblanc 1858 collection, the smartwatch can take on on its dials, the feminine allure of Bohème Date and Bohème Classic variations, to the sporty Energy and Fitness styles. Its built-in watch face configurator offers over a thousand watch face combinations, with users able to choose their own preference of indicators, background, hands and complication displays.
The case is also available in different finishes, from black DLC steel, stainless steel, bicolour steel to titanium Grade 2, alongside 11 different interchangeable strap options including calfskin, Milanese steel, rubber sport and nylon. These different permutations number up to a possible 70,000 individual looks for the Summit 2 assortment. A rotating crown and two additional programmable pushers, top off the physical features.
On the inside, the Montbanc Summit 2 is the first luxury smartwatch to feature the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset by Qualcomm, ensuring enhanced performance of the apps.
First off, the Summit 2 runs on Android, and this means the Google Assistant can provide wearers with proactive, personalized assistance like their flight status or upcoming reservations. They can also use the watch's microphone, to ask for help or get directions or translations. The Google Assistant can even perform tasks like setting reminders, via the smartwatch.
Google Pay is also available, facilitating purchases in a fast easy way, without cash.
In addition, the Summit 2 exclusively offers travel functions that include the new Timeshifter® app and watch face, providing personalized advice to minimize jet lag based on the traveller's sleep pattern, chronotype, and flight plan. Used by astronauts and elite athletes, and based on the latest in sleep and circadian neuroscience, Timeshifter provides timely updates and instructions directly on the Summit 2 watch face, helping travellers to adjust fast to a new time zone.
Finally the exclusive Montblanc Running Coach app, powered by scientific insight from the Firstbeat analytics engine, enables runners to track fitness levels (based on VO2max) and specify a fitness goal which translates into a personalized training plan built around ideal efforts and recovery times.
