JODHPUR High above the desert capital is one of India's greatest palaces, Umaid Bhawan--a spectacular combination of Indian architectural style and western technology.
This palace was completed in 1943 for the Maharaja of Jodhpur and converted into a luxurious hotel and suites in 1977 The sumptuous interiors were in done in Art Deco complimented by exotic murals.
It is set amidst twenty-six acres of land and gardens. Its Central Rotunda features a huge oval staircase, flanked by the impressive Ballroom and Banquet hall on either side.
The Throne room with its exquisite Ramayana murals, and the garage that holds a wide collection of vintage cars, all reaffirm the grandeur of this remarkable palace.
