Conceived by Bali Barret, artistic director of the Hermès women's universe, the three-day pop-up will be housed in an expansive colonial building (the former Kinloss House, built in the 1900s by engineer, Alexander Murray, who also designed Victoria Memorial Hall) nestled just beyond Orchard Road.
Hermès Carré Club made its debut in New York and Toronto in September before making a stop in Singapore later this month. It will then travel to Los Angeles and Milan in November.
Guests can expect a full immersive experience exploring the many reinterpretations of the Carré here. The hidden venue will feature nine interactive modules or sections over two storeys and its compound: Think 'live' artist demonstrations, Instagram-worthy installations, café gatherings, souvenir shopping and more all running day into night.
Here are the Carré Club's main highlights:
Upon arrival at Carré Click and Check, guests will be signed in by the Hermès concierge to receive their membership card and enter a photobooth to take their official portrait.
Next, head to the artistic epicentre, Carré Studio. This on-site atelier will provide an authentic setting for Carré designers and artisans to create 'live' and in real time. Among those with a connection to the Carré showing off their various artistic styles are Gianpaolo Pagni, Ugo Gattoni and Jean-Simon Roch, Alice Shirley, Keng Saw, as well as Octave Marsal and Théo de Gueltzl.
Also look out for Singapore artist-embroiderer Izziyana Suhaimi who will lend her special needlepoint touch to the scarves. The artistically inclined can also leave their own mark by naming one of 75,000 colours posted on a giant wall – each hue used by Hermès over decades of Carré creation.
For beauty junkies, Carré Cut offers makeovers complete with specially imported square-cut wigs and manicures in Carré colours, of course.
If youre in need of a sip or snack, Carré Café serves up not-so-average square meals. Helmed by Singaporean food stylist, photographer and barista, CR Tan, the menu is crafted specially for Carré Club with a celebration of squares, splashes of colour and Tan's distinctive take on Asian flavours. Guests can also look forward to literary readings and retro arcade games here.
Unleash your inner crooner at Carré-OK, a box panelled in colourful scarves accommodating four people to belt out songs that loosely relate to silk.
Head to Carré Disco if you want to bust some moves under the lights of a square disco ball. In the day, the disco transforms into a lounge playing cool tunes.
Venture outdoors to Carré Park where a small skate ramp covered in Carré designs provides a stage for skaters to show off their tricks.
For shoppers, the Carré Mania gift shop will carry the latest range of Autumn-Winter 2018 scarves and a special-edition Hermès Carré Club silk twill bandana only available at this pop-up.
