By SENATUS Editor | 22 November 2014

Hugo Boss has been conferring the HUGO BOSS PRIZE in cooperation with the distinguished Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York since 1996. Every two years the prize singles out artists whose oeuvre constitutes an outstanding contribution to contemporary art.

It honors both young, up-and-coming artists as well as their established contemporary counterparts. An independent jury comprised of curators and art critics is appointed anew for each award, and makes its decision based on the nominated artists’ entire career. Carrying a stipend of USD 100,000, the prize is administered by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The winner is also granted a solo exhibition of his or her work at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

Winning this year was Paul Chan. The ceremony and party held in the Guggenheim, attracted guests like Hugo Boss creative director Jason Wu, actress Kate Bosworth, actor Joshua Jackson, who mingled with art-world luminaries like artists Marco Brambilla, Shelter Serra, Sebastian Errazuriz and Kehinde Wiley .
